Kingsway Sample Library

From FAQ:

WHY AREN’T YOUR SAMPLES ROYALTY-FREE LIKE COMPANY X?

Many companies choose to offer their samples royalty-free and produce a high volume of material for producers and creators to use however they would like. Kingsway’s approach is different - our composers take great care and time to provide the highest quality recordings possible, many of which are much longer and much more layered than the average royalty-free sample.

Perhaps such could be done with software with a tipping point of “if your company has more than 100 software personnel”, or “if your company has a software licensing compliance department”. This seems better than just “100 employees” as non-software businesses would struggle to know what is what.

Number of employees seems to me to be the ‘gold standard’ in assessing the probable scale of use. It’s a well understood term that is often self-enforcing since AFAIK in most jurisdictions it’s a metric that is used widely in collecting tax, arranging insurance and in employment law. Less specific terms like ‘agents’ or ‘contractors’ opens up the scheme to some instability in definition and thus regulation and enforcement maybe?
