Unrelated to the subject of this forum, but I thought @kemitchell might find it interesting.
There have been a hundred formats like this. It’s not all that hard to come up with a new one. But in the end, as with data formats, there’s eventually a dominant option, and you’re almost always better sticking with that while you can. For markup, that’s Markdown. For data, it’s JSON.
